Mom opened her eyes this afternoon for about 30 seconds. It was in response to the nurses moving her. She did not recognize anyone, but this is progress!
They still are running tests to know what is causing the fever.
She is slowly progressing in her responsiveness.
More to come when I see her this evening.

Stephen,
ReplyDeleteThat is GREAT to hear, my sister was just in the ICU down in R.I. and when they slowly started to " wake her up " she only recognized me and her daughtger but then she would have to be reminded of her own name, but we were justed blessed by the fact that she was waking up. She is doing much better now, but it is a process and your mom is not going recognize ppl. at first but you will be so amazed at how quickly she will respond to you and those who are really close to her. Hang in there this is amazing..have they mentioned a condition called "brain fever" to you? That is what I have seen in many pts. and the dr's. monitor the fever closley it great that she does respond to the tylenol, that is a really good sign and that is all that keeps you going now...signs...and every little one counts so big..so just keep watching for them and you will be able to see your mom coming back, little by little, but as time goes by it does get faster, she is going to amaze you and you will not believe how quickly most things will happen.
Love ya,
Scott & Judie
Dear Stephen, I suffered from a traumatic brain injury due to a car accident in 1999. As a result, two craniotomies were performed. The first was to stop the bleeding and the second was due to swelling that occurred a few days later. My recovery process was successful and still is. May this bring you an extension of hope and a continued enthusiasm to have your mom back soon. Love, Susan Angelle
